The Ancient Theater is protected as a historical monument since 1862. Witnessing the prosperity of the ancient city of Vasio, it is with public baths and the forum, one of the large public buildings that made up the monumental complex of the city .
Its construction dates very probably of the 1st century of our era, during the reign of the emperor Claudius. It was dug in the northern flank of the hill. Its dimensions and structure allowed to accommodate up to 7000 spectators, distributed according to a strict hierarchy.
Restored during the 3rd century, the theater was probably used until the beginning of the 4th century. Historians hypothesize that it was destroyed at the beginning of the following century, at the time of the decree of Honorius (in 407), which ordered all the provinces to overthrow, break or burial the statues of pagan deities. ..
