Les Alpages cheesemonger
The man in charge of this veritable institution is Bernard Mure-Ravaud, France’s premier cheesemonger and none other than the 2007 world champion!
Forever passionate about cheese, Bernard Mure-Ravaud scours the alpine countryside in search of rare products, and unearths his new cheeses through direct contact with the producers themselves.
His mission? To raise the profile of lesser-known or forgotten cheeses, while continuing to promote the most famous varieties. As a result, Les Alpages offers over 150 different high quality cheeses crafted by uniquely talented producers.
Not only has Bernard Mure-Ravaud won the International Caseus Award (the world championship for cheesemongers) but his establishment also boasts not one, but two entries in the Guinness Book of Records! It produced the world's largest ever cheese board, covering a full 64 sqm and comprising 479 varieties of French cheese, and also holds the record for the world's largest platter of international farmhouse cheeses, made up of 150 varieties from all around the world.
