Sainte-Cécile Convent
Sainte-Cecile convent and its Chapel were build in the 17th century for the Bernardines nuns of Grenoble. The convent now hosts the headquarters of the Editions Glenat, a publishing house founded in 1969 by Jacques Glénat, the Fondation and the Fonds de Dotation Glénat.
The history of the convent is unexpected and exciting. The nuns of Bernardines were expulsed of the convent in 1791 and the building was invested by the army until the beginning of the 20th century. In 1925, the chapel was turned into a movie theatre and a dance bar after the Second World War, then a theatre until 1999.
In 2004, Jacques Glénat became the owner of this historic building and after some construction the building was opened for the first time to the public in September 2009.
Today, one can admire the Chapel. The cloister was also rebuilt and a splendid library was settled in the Chapel of the convent.
