Promenade Jacques Baumel
The Jacques Baumel park and promenade surround the historic site of Mont-Valérien at its midpoint. Culminating at nearly 162 meters, the Mont-Valérien is a natural belvedere overlooking Paris and its region.
Medieval hermitage then popular pilgrimage in the 17th and 19th centuries, Mont-Valérien saw the construction, in the middle of the 19th century, of a fort of the Parisian belt. During the Second World War, the site was the main place in France for executions ordered by the German authorities.
Since 1944, thanks to the will of General De Gaulle and the work of the associations of the families of those executed, it has become a place of memory.
The Memorial of Fighting France was erected there in 1960, and new museographic spaces were inaugurated in 2010.
