Conservatory and Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden houses collections of plants from five continents over 28 hectares. With around 12,000 species, these collections are presented in thematic groups:
Greenhouses intended for growing tropical and Mediterranean plants
The terraces which bring together more than 500 medicinal plants, often useful on a daily basis
The rock gardens which allow you to discover alpine plants from all over the world
The arboretum and its 300-year-old specimens
The Botanical Conservatory is a place of conservation, research and education. It houses invaluable botanical collections such as the herbarium, with its 6 million samples, and the public library which brings together almost all the printed works dealing with systematic botany since the mid-18th century.
The collections of the Conservatory and botanical gardens constitute a scientific and cultural heritage which contributes to the international influence of Geneva.
The Conservatory and botanical gardens also present exhibitions and conduct an active environmental education policy.
