Prangins Castle
Near Nyon, the majestic Prangins Castle is home to the headquarters of the Swiss National Museum in French-speaking Switzerland. Prangins is a must-see cultural site in the region thanks to this castle-museum, the largest visitable 18th-century castle in Switzerland and the largest historic vegetable garden in the country.
Several permanent exhibitions are a journey to the Age of Enlightenment: "Noblesse oblige! La vie de château au 18e siècle", featuring the daily life of a noble family from the Pays de Vaud, the "Potager" - a real open-air exhibition - or the exhibition "Indiennes: un tissu à la conquête du monde" on the fascinating history of printed cotton fabrics. The game exhibition "Ready to go" invites young and old to continue the journey with the means of transport from the 18th to the 20th century.
The temporary exhibitions highlight topics related to Swiss culture and current affairs. The Swiss National Museum continues outside, with the educational trail "The Walk of Light". To make the immersion complete, the Café du Château also offers a refined menu inspired by the old-fashioned vegetable garden or picnic baskets for a lunch on the grass!
