A castle of the Counts of Loon may have stood here. Perhaps with a watchtower. Little is known about the view from the Borreberg castle, which was destroyed in 1483 and not rebuilt afterwards. 

You can climb the site via steps, both from Begijnhofstraat and Brugstraat. On the platform where the castle once stood, there is now a tourist lookout tower that offers you a panoramic view of our Demer city and the wide surroundings.
