Le Passage Pommeraye
If one destination in Nantes is truly unmissable, it's the Passage Pommeraye!
Authentic and rich in history, this landmark also offers first-class shopping in its boutiques. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Passage Pommeraye is one of the most beautiful covered walkways in Europe. It would be a travesty to miss out on such an architectural gem.
Inspired by the most luxurious Parisian passages, the Passage Pommeraye was inaugurated in 1843 under the reign of Louis-Philippe. It soon became an iconic city landmark in Nantes. Very popular among artists, the passage has very often been used as backdrop for films, including Lola, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg and Jacquot de Nantes among others.
A large glass roof overlooks a large flight of steps and three galleries: the "galerie de la Fosse", the "galerie Régnier" and the "galerie Santeuil". Just as in its early days, the passage houses the city’s most luxurious brands. These include Hermès, Durance, Le Tanneur, Nature et Découvertes and many more.
